2025–2026 ACADEMIC YEAR MEAL SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINE
During the 2025–2026 academic year, students of our University with low income levels will be provided with one free meal per day at the University cafeteria. Meal scholarship applications will be accepted between October 6, 2025 – October 17, 2025.
Important Points to Note:
Students who wish to benefit from the meal scholarship must apply via https://burs.balikesir.edu.tr/. Applications should follow the steps below:
From the “Scholarship Module” section, select “Scholarship Application” and complete the “Meal Scholarship” questions to submit your application.
After clicking the “Scholarship Application” button, answer the questions regarding yourself. If a section requires document upload (“Choose File”), make sure to upload the relevant documents.
After verifying the accuracy of all your information, click the “Submit My Application” button to complete your process. Once submitted, no changes can be made to your application.
It is recommended that you prepare the required documents in PDF format on your computer before starting your application to ensure a faster and smoother process.
Required Documents:
- Population Registration Certificate (including family information) obtained from e-Government: https://www.turkiye.gov.tr/nvi-nufus-kayit-ornegi-belgesi-sorgulama (Select “Family Registration” under document type.)
- Martyrdom or Veteran Certificate (if applicable)
- National Athlete Certificate (if applicable)
- Document showing scholarship/loan status (if applicable)
- For siblings in higher education (excluding open education): student certificate obtained from e-Government: https://www.turkiye.gov.tr/yok-ogrenci-belgesi-sorgulama
- For siblings in primary or secondary school: student certificate from e-Government or e-School: https://www.turkiye.gov.tr/milli-egitim-ogrencilik-belgesisorgulama
- Employment and social security status certificate (from e-Government): https://www.turkiye.gov.tr/sosyal-guvenlik-kayit-belgesi-sorgulama
- Family income documents: SGK registration certificate for parents, recent payroll for employees, tax declaration for self-employed, or pension statement for retirees.
- Disability certificate (if applicable)
- If residing in a province affected by the February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake, submit a damage status document from e-Government.
Students Eligible for Direct Meal Scholarship:
The following students are entitled to receive the meal scholarship directly upon request, without being subject to announcement or evaluation:
- Students who are certified national athletes and do not receive any scholarship from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
- Students with 40% or higher disability certified by a medical report.
- Students whose parents or siblings are martyrs or veterans, upon submission of valid documentation.
- Students who have achieved first place in national or international competitions (science, culture, arts, or sports) on behalf of the University.
Evaluation of Meal Scholarship Applications:
Applications are evaluated based on family information, residence status, income level, academic achievement, number of siblings in education, martyr/veteran status, disability condition, achievements representing the University, and other scholarships or loans received.
Scholarships will be revoked if a student does not use the meal service within the first month, uses less than 50% of the entitlement in one semester, or misuses the scholarship (e.g., sharing meals with others).
Form and Duration of the Meal Scholarship:
Students awarded the meal scholarship can benefit from it until the end of the academic calendar.
The scholarship provides one free meal per day (lunch or dinner) at the University cafeteria. The scholarship terminates when the student’s enrollment at the University ends.
The form and duration of the meal scholarship may be modified by the University Executive Board.
