International Achievement by BAUN Academics
The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Balıkesir University has marked a significant international academic success. At the 20th International Strategic Management Conference, held in Belgrade, Serbia, between 11–13 September 2025, the joint study by Prof. Dr. Pelin Vardarlıer and Research Assistant Mert Demir was honored with the Prof. Dr. Erol Eren Best Paper Award.
The study, entitled “Strategic Governance for Sustainable Performance: ESG Impacts of Board and Financial Structures in International Logistics”, with Research Assistant Mert Demir as the corresponding author and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Pelin Vardarlıer, was selected as the best paper of the conference following the jury’s evaluation.
The research examined the impacts of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices on board structures and financial indicators in the international logistics sector, discussing strategic governance models in the context of sustainable performance. Due to its academic quality, methodological originality, and valuable contributions to the field of global logistics, the paper was awarded the Prof. Dr. Erol Eren Best Paper Award by the conference committee.
