Balıkesir University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences conducted an earthquake, evacuation, and fire extinguishing drill. The drill, carried out with the participation of academic and administrative staff as well as students, began with the “drop–cover–hold on” procedure inside classrooms, followed by a safe evacuation to the assembly area.
The drill was attended and closely observed on-site by Prof. Dr. Suat Kara, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Sibel Ergün, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences. As part of the exercise aimed at strengthening first-response capacity during emergencies, a fire extinguishing demonstration was performed using fire extinguishers under expert supervision.
Conducted in real-time, the drill played a significant role in enhancing disaster awareness among students and staff. The coordinated actions demonstrated during the evacuation and intervention exercises in front of the faculty further reinforced emergency preparedness. The drill was successfully completed.
