From the National Struggle to the Congresses: Foundations of the Republic

Our panel titled “From the National Struggle to the Congresses: Foundations of the Republic” was held at Balıkesir University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, aiming to examine Turkey’s independence struggle and its strategic decision-making processes within a historical and political framework.
The panel offered an academic perspective on the journey of independence beginning on May 19, 1919, analyzing how national will, local resistance organizations, and the institutional state mind were shaped through the Erzurum, Sivas, and Balıkesir Congresses.
At the conclusion of the event, our Dean Prof. Dr. Suat Kara, Head of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration Prof. Dr. Şeniz Anbarlı Bozatay, and Vice Dean Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Tansu Özbaysal presented certificates of appreciation to the panelist academics and to the BAUN Atatürkist Thought Society for their valuable contributions.
We sincerely thank our esteemed academics for their contributions to this meaningful platform that aimed to understand the intellectual, institutional, and political foundations of our Republic, and our students for their active participation.
